Providing basketball Knowledge……is a fairly broad statement. It includes providing instruction to players of all ages at all skill levels. This education can be obtained one on one, one to many, or through various types of media such as internet, television and DVD’s. The same can be said about coaches. From a dad starting out coaching his son’s little league team to the head coach of a high school, university, professional or nation team, these leaders are always looking for an edge to make their teams better. Player and coach instruction is probably the most traditional way to think about basketball knowledge.
Basketball knowledge also includes all of the service infrastructure that surround the game of basketball. Just think about how many things that go into putting on a basketball game, tournament or league. The up front marketing and sponsorships are critical. The fans like hot dogs, popcorn, drinks and beer. The players need uniforms, shoes, socks and warm ups – preferably with a big company logo. You can’t forget the gymnasium, goals, floor, stands and someone to take your ticket. We tend to take these things for granted. However, in many parts of the world they are looking for guidance in many if not all of these areas.
USBA trains and educates Students and professional athletes from all over the world. Chinese teams and athletes are consistently filling the calendar at the United States Basketball Academy.
China…..has both the largest basketball audience in the world and the largest basketball player population in the world with over 300 million men and women playing the sport. As a result, the Student Sports Ministry of Education of China(SSME), which is the governing body for the development for sports and education for 661,000 schools and 260,000,000 students in China, has acknowledged that their country has a high and growing need to educate and train competent and qualified basketball coaches who can provide leadership, knowledge and guidance necessary to develop, improve and train individual players and their teams to successfully compete on all levels.
